DTS
DTS is a Discipleship program. It starts with a Pre-DTS that lasts 5 months and then goes on into the global YWAM Discipleship Training Program. Pre-DTS is a requirement for Haitian students as it teaches them the basics of living a Christian life. They work for their food & housing, and learn the simple day-to-day livelihood of devotion to God and love for each other. It is simple, but not always easy, spiritual food that preps them to digest the rich food they will recieve in DTS.
DTS begins with three months of lecture and practical training by experienced missionaries around the globe. During this time, students learn groundbreaking lessons on prayer, reconciliation, and developing your relationship with God. Knowing God is the focus! Students are always challenged by staff to live what they are taught, and not just know about it. We often describe it to students as a missionary boot camp, things are tough and through it all your character will change more into that of God and you’ll never be the same!
DTS ends with a two-month outreach to locations such as Guadeloupe, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and areas in Haiti. Students work as a team with staff to learn and develop ways to communicate God to this generation. The things taught in the lecture phase are proven during outreach. Students are challenged to reach out to different cultures and become a part of reaching this generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Upcoming DTS starts in June 2011 and ends in November 2011. For more information email dts@ywamhaiti.org.
